Due to increasing project commissions and appointments, we are seeking to appoint several full-time experienced Geotechnical and Structural Engineers who will be responsible for delivering projects within Tunnelling. About the job
You will be based in the UK and be part of a global team delivering projects internationally. You will work particularly closely with our Tunnels Team based in Denmark.
Your principal duties and responsibilities include:
Performing structural analysis for tunnels, stations, shafts, portals etc.
Preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and reports
Technically directing the team or project, mentoring of staff, developing and implementing design best practices, ensuring design conformance with codes and client requirements
Assisting with construction support services
Working within a multi-disciplinary and multicultural engineering practice with co-operation between project members from different NIRAS offices around the globe
Liaise with clients and build strong relationships for longer term business development.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to travel both in the UK and internationally as may be required occasionally for site attendance, training, internal/external design placements, and other occasions/meetings as may arise.
About you
For this exciting position you will need:
Degree in civil engineering or similar field with more than 5 years of experience undertaking structural design
Relevant structural design experience within tunnel and underground structures
Ability to provide technical leadership and to supervise a project team
Experience in 2D/3D numerical modeling of underground structures (LUSAS, Robot, SAP2000 or similar)
Ideally you will have the right to live and work in the UK. Sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route may be possible but cannot be guaranteed.
What we offer you
A starting salary of circa £50,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience, with the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis, or based from any of our UK offices depending on your preference. We may consider candidates outside of this range for more Junior or Senior positions respectively.
