Type of contract:     Freelance contract until 03/2027 (+ 24 months’ extension planned)

Location:                  Egypt, Minya (covering Assiut Governorate as well)

Expected start:        as soon as possible

Input:                       Full time, 6 working days per week

For more than 70 years, Dorsch Impact GmbH has been implementing projects financed by international financing institutions such as KfW, GIZ, EU, World Bank, ADB, AfDB, EBRD, EIB, AFD and others. Our scope covers the following fields of work: Water resource management, sustainable management of natural resources, municipal infrastructure, agriculture & irrigation, governance, peace & social cohesion as well as skills & economic development.

For our IWSP-2 Construction Programme in Egypt, we are looking for an International Lead Construction Supervisor (m/f/d) with proven experience in large-scale water/wastewater projects worldwide financed by IFIs, especially KfW.

The IWSP-2 currently comprises 16 projects, approximately half in Minya Governorate, half in Assiut Governorate. These include pump stations, WWTPs, WTPs and networks.

The Lead Construction Supervisor will need to lead the supervision team covering the 16-20 projects in the two governorates and will effectively become the TL. Project management skills are essential, understanding of Arabic and experience in Egypt will be an advantage. 

The Lead Construction Supervisor would be based in Minya (3.5-hour drive from Cairo) with a core team, with dedicated site supervision teams for each project. The Lead Construction Supervisor will cover Assiut Governorate as well and there will be some travel to Cairo required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • University degree in civil engineering or related subjects;
  • Computer skills (MS Office software, accounting applications);
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.

General professional experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years of international work experience in the water and wastewater sector.

Specific professional experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a construction supervision expert for projects with large magnitude and complexity;
  • Profound experience as a construction supervision expert for water or wastewater projects;
  • Demonstrated experience with lead construction supervision tasks and reporting;
  • Experience with FIDIC, KfW and World Bank procurement procedures;
  • Regional experience is an advantage.
