Hello Hello! So you’re interested in joining us? Welcome, we’re happy you’re here.
When you Join Alight, you’ll find…
A team with deep experience in co-designing solutions that create new value around the world. We know we need to always be better, and we believe in the power and abundance of everyday people, everywhere, to change the world with us.
A culture of radical accountability to our customers –as we help build a meaningful life for and with the displaced, we ask them what they want and then deliver on it.
An organization that refuses to settle for anything less than delivering human-worthy services.
If you are looking to be part of a living, breathing, ever-changing organization full of disrupters and doers, then read on!
The Role
Based in the Twin Cities metro area (preferred) or remotely, you’ll lead the mobilization efforts for Private Sponsorship Groups (PSGs) for Welcome Corps, Uniting for Ukraine, and other humanitarian parole pathways. You will receive support from the Interim U.S. Director, the U.S. Partnership Lead and the U.S. Sponsorship Lead. Simply put, your role will be to provide leadership, strategic direction, and overall coordination in recruiting and mobilizing PSGs nationally and ensure the experience for sponsor groups and our end customers is human-worthy. It is expected that you will lead most of the public sessions we have on sponsorship, and you should be prepared to spend at least 60% of your time in direct communication with potential sponsors.
You’ll know you’re doing well if:
- You can articulate your knowledge about the various sponsorship pathways in the United States and deeply understand what’s essential to welcome a newcomer family.
- We continue to recruit and support private sponsor groups for Uniting for Ukraine, other humanitarian parole pathways, and Welcome Corps.
- Sponsor groups feel supported and well-equipped to provide human-centered care to newcomers.
- Newcomers feel warmly welcomed and feel supported by sponsor groups and/or guides to help them thrive in their new community.
- You have helped change the standard for what resettlement looks like in the U.S.
The Team
You will co-lead national mobilization efforts with the U.S. Partnership Lead and U.S. Sponsorship Lead. You will report to the U.S. Partnership Lead. Behind you, you’ll be supported by the Alight U.S. team backing you up and providing back-office support to achieve program goals.
We are proud to work on borderless teams. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds and specifically encourage members of refugee, immigrant or other displaced communities to join us.
Building a shared organization takes time and intention. We will always be becoming Alight, which means your work will evolve as well. For now, here’s how you could anticipate spending your time:
Find Others – It’s going to take all of us to provide a human-worthy experience to families seeking refuge. You will work to bring in a variety of groups who believe in a shared value to achieve great outcomes, all while staying true to ourselves and being guided by newcomers themselves.
Bravely Be Better – You understand and recognize the gaps in the current system and aren’t afraid to serve the customers in a better way, no matter what it takes, while being a team player in a larger resettlement effort.
Be Human Centered – You will work to keep newcomer families at the center of all that we do and keep yourself and the team accountable to the human-centeredness of our activities.
Do the Doable – The mountain can feel big, but you know success can come in small ways, and will lead the team to have a “doing the doable” spirit.
Community Mobilization - 60% of time
You’re not intimidated by high program targets or strong accountability.
We believe strategy is a team sport. You’ll work closely with the U.S. Interim Director, U.S. Partnership Lead, and U.S. Sponsorship Lead to build out a larger strategy for sponsorship mobilization, engagement and communications to ensure a successful program.
You will collaborate with the Communications team to ensure timely and targeted communication and information flow to all internal and external partners around sponsorship.
You will collaborate and manage the relationship with any media or communications consultant that is engaged to generate media on sponsorship in select markets.
You will lead frequent – initially this could be several times per week – information sessions via Zoom or in person on sponsorship for the general public and partners.
You are customer-centered and recognize that you may spend a lot of time in direct communication with potential sponsors (one-to-one conversations).
You recognize that to achieve our targets you need to be available in the evenings and weekends to share about sponsorship at various community events.
For 2023 and through March 31, 2024, our sponsorship target is to recruit/mobilize at least 400 sponsor groups nationally.
Partnerships – 20%
- You understand that program targets will only be achieved by working with as many partners spreading the word.
- You are a born connector and how how to build partnerships ambitiously and consistently, providing the support they need to ensure a smooth process and partnerships.
- You will collaborate with Alight design team members to create referral assets for partner organizations, and bring Alight to the forefront of how sponsorship should be done.
Program Development and Fundraising - 20% of time
You will work closely with the core team and private sponsor groups for continuous feedback on program quality, ongoing needs, and vision for the future.
You will collaborate with the U.S. Interim Director, the U.S. Partnerships Lead, the U.S. Sponsorship Lead, and the Engagement team to share new initiatives to drive business development and partnerships.
You will contribute to writing proposals and reports.
You will work to cultivate key relationships that work towards meeting our project goals.

We’re also looking for the following competencies:

You are a confident public speaker who radiates confidence and can motivate others.
You have an infectious enthusiasm for project delivery and execution, a fanatical devotion to displaced people, and this isn’t your first time. As such, you’ve had experience in project management and rolling out complex projects.
You understand the financial management side of projects, have the confidence to change course as needed and know how to hit ambitious targets and tight deadlines.
You work well with a lot of freedom and do your best work in a culture that does the doable with whatever resources we have.
You are culturally agile and are invigorated by co-creating with multiple partners.
You have a founders’ spirit, embrace ambiguity, and are joyful to the people you serve and work beside.
You deliver your work generously and take ownership of everything that lands in your lap.
You know how to get others behind you and can articulate our shared vision to find others and let them join the effort.
These are the things we’re aiming to find. However, we’re open to being surprised. If you embody the spirit of Alight, care deeply about the cause, and if you bring something else that’s special, then please reach out.
