ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Synergos is seeking a Development Manager to serve as a strategic partner for the Managing Director of Development, supporting various aspects of donor identification and cultivation, fundraising systems and operations, and events management. This is a unique opportunity to get a wide range of experience in the development space, working as part of a small development team in close partnership with leadership and global programs.

The Development Manager will have a critical role in helping to strengthen the culture of fundraising throughout the organization. They will bring a proactive approach to improving fundraising systems and operations while also handling critical aspects of prospect management and donor engagement. They will also have a specific focus on helping to develop a major donor pipeline and supporting planning/execution of Synergos’ signature fundraising event, the David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Awards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct research, identify and qualify potential donors using tools such as WealthX, RelSci, and other philanthropy/research platforms (in coordination with Senior Associate, Global Research and Data Management)
• Work with teams across the organization to ensure that fundraising objectives are incorporated into meeting briefs and engagement strategies; support trip briefing and debriefing process
• Carry out day-to-day donor cultivation, representing Synergos at various meetings and events, communicating directly with prospects and partners, supporting senior leadership in donor communications, etc.
• Provide oversight on donor stewardship, including gift processing and recognition (in partnership with Finance and Admin team)
• Manage Development data and moves management across channels, including Dynamics 365 and Monday.com
• Lead on Development reporting and support fundraising collaboration across the organization vis-à-vis meetings and other tools (e.g., Teams)
• Work with Managing Director on planning and execution of the David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Awards, including management of jury/selection process, engagement with Board Committee, sponsorship outreach, etc.
• Partner with Communications to develop and update fundraising collateral
• Support on grants management and other institutional fundraising priorities, as needed
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred but not required)
• Experience: 5+ years’ professional experience in fundraising, external relations, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Ability to work independently and flexibly; comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
• Exceptional writing and communication skills; experience synthesizing complex information and developing messaging for multiple audiences (e.g., individual and institutional funders)
• Strong research experience with the ability to translate research into strategy/action
• Comfortable navigating uncertainty, working across cultures, and promoting new ways of working
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, project management / collaboration tools (Monday.com; Teams) and CRM software

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
