Lead on context analysis and keep abreast on socio-economic and political changes and developments in the environment relevant to park management and ensure timely reporting to the Park Managers.
Understand the AP-SSD strategy and speak with authority on the subject and about AP’s model for Land-use management, conservancies and the holistic management of land, resources and human development.
Participate in assessing and attaining the scale needed, to build towards AP’s vision that will require a steep growth curve over the next 5 years.
Manage and establish good relationships with all stakeholders, and provide effective communication of AP’s mandate, vision and key priorities, including:
The Country Representative strengthens partnerships by providing expert advice, ensuring effective knowledge-sharing, and offering technical support for project planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting and therefore contributes to the smooth day to day administration and business of the project and help to maintain workflows.
Oversee all media and communications in-country with a developed and expanded strategy to deliver on the Business Plan. Prepare and host international media visits. Ensure the media plan targets institutional and private donors and is incorporated and implemented.
Work from the Parks participating in field activities, to be able to speak first-hand about our vision and progress.
Remain abreast of changes in the legislative framework and participate in the analysis of the wildlife bill and other legislation relevant to land use planning and other activities.
Actively work with the Funding and Reporting Manager to develop project concepts notes and establish a funding plan in-country and maintain strategic donor relationships.
Represent African Parks in good faith during donor meetings and other events.
Ensure that all administrative procedures with government are adhered to in a timely way.
A degree in environmental conservation, international development, or a related field such as public policy, sustainability, or ecological management with demonstrated relevance to leadership roles in national or regional programs.
