Job Titles: Resident Civil Engineer - Geotechnical (Non-Key) | Resident Civil Engineer - Hydraulic Structures (Non-Key)
Location: Project Site
Role: Provide specialized technical supervision and field engineering expertise for a major dam project, focusing on either geotechnical or hydraulic structures and concrete works.
Responsibilities (Both Positions):
- Supervise the construction and/or rehabilitation of dam project components in your area of specialization, ensuring compliance with design and specifications.
- Monitor works, review contractor submissions, and maintain daily logs and quality control records.
- Plan and monitor schedules using project management software (e.g., MS Project).
- Administer contract requirements on-site under the FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
- Assist in the preparation of progress reports and technical documentation.
Requirements (Both Positions):
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialty in either Geotechnical Engineering (Position A) or Hydraulics/Water Resources (Position B).
- 15+ years of professional experience in the water resources sector or similar construction projects.
- 5+ years of direct experience in the design and supervision of dam projects where a single project cost exceeded USD $5 million.
- Practical experience in planning and monitoring dam rehabilitation works.
- Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project).
- Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts, technical specifications, and methods of measurement, preferably with experience in developing countries like Nigeria.
Specialization Focus:
- Civil Engineer - Geotechnical: Focus on foundation preparation, soil stability, earthworks, seepage control, and instrumentation.
- Civil Engineer - Hydraulic Structures: Focus on concrete quality, spillways, outlet works, gates, embedded parts, and water control structures.
