About the Project

The Global Partnership for Human-Centric ICT Standardization (GIST) is an EU-funded initiative supporting the development and adoption of ICT standards that are inclusive, sustainable, and people-centred. As part of its activities in Kenya, GIST is seeking a Project Assistant to provide administrative and operational support to the GIST Expert based in Nairobi.

Role Summary

The Project Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative, coordination, and office support to the GIST Expert. The role is essential to ensuring the smooth implementation, reporting, and coordination of GIST activities in Kenya.

The Project Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the GIST Expert for all task-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the GIST Expert with schedule and calendar management

  • Organise and coordinate meetings, workshops, and events

  • Provide administrative support for project reporting

  • Assist with office management and day-to-day operations

  • Support basic website maintenance related to project activities

  • Translate short documents between English and local language(s), when required

  • Support the preparation of monthly financial and administrative reporting

  • Assist with managing and documenting incidental project expenditures

  • Provide on-site administrative support related to permits or visas, if required

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree (any relevant discipline)

  • Proficiency in English and Swhaili

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience

  • Previous experience working with European or international standards and quality projects/organisations is a strong asset

  • Strong organisational, communication, and administrative skills
