Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and monitor design process of the Contractor to ensure E&S issues are properly integrated and considered
  • Ensure that the required E&S site surveys and studies (and others as may be necessary for the design to meet good international industry practice) are carried at the right time to input into the design development
  • Assist the Contractor in identifying practicable and pragmatic options for minimising impacts to E&S features, including the designated cultural heritage Monument, mangroves, breeding birds and local residents
  • As necessary, review emerging designs and identify potential new or worse impacts beyond those identified in the draft
  • ESIA and ESMP, and assist Contractor with identifying suitable mitigation measures
  • Review, comment and approve the Addendum ESIA if prepared by the Contractor, and the Contractor’s proposed replanting and restoration proposals
  • Instruct the Contractor to support the Employer in their stakeholder engagement activities. Monitor the Contractor's implementation of community GRM.
  • Assist and/or participate in progress and review meetings with the Employer, and other government bodies for comments on the draft Addendum ESIA.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, a natural science (such as Geology, Water Resources or Ecology) or similar related field
  • Minimum eight (8) years of professional experience undertaking Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, and integrating environmental and /or social protection measures into engineering designs for civil works.
  • Experience of at least one study related to landfill closure or operations
  • Caribbean region nationals are preferred.
