UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is hosting its Regional Roundtable on Sustainable Finance for Latin America and the Caribbean on 30-31 January 2024 in Bogotá, Colombia. This important event will convene 400+ UNEP FI member banks and insurers, investors, supporting institutions, policymakers, academia, and civil society to explore the next steps and actions needed to mainstream sustainable finance in the region.
Speakers and participants will discuss the role of banking, insurance, and investment in accelerating the transition to a low-carbon, inclusive, and sustainable future in the region.
The event will highlight the finance industry’s responses to global issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, and plastic pollution. Participants will further address important topics including the advancement of sustainable finance frameworks and taxonomies, the next steps in the Principles for Responsible Banking, the implementation of the Principles for Sustainable Insurance, how technologies can help integrate sustainability in the sector, promoting financial health and inclusion, and the opportunities of the circular economy for the region, among other important topics.
