International Rescue Committee receives £500,000 to help Global Crisis Response

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has partnered with tech company Wise to support humanitarian work around the world. Wise has given £500,000 to IRC’s Crisis Response Fund, which helps fund quick responses when emergencies happen. This money allows IRC to act within hours when crises occur.

“The Crisis Response Fund gives us resources to respond to urgent needs that families face during emergencies,” said Bob Kitchen from IRC.

The fund helped over 270,000 people last year in 12 countries including Myanmar, Ecuador, and Nigeria. These countries faced different problems from earthquakes to heavy rains and fires.

Wise picked IRC as a partner because both groups value clear reporting and showing real results.

“IRC stood out for its use of data, quick response to crises, and shared goal of making a real difference,” said Caroline Corbett-Thompson from Wise.

The partnership comes at a time when over 300 million people need aid worldwide and 120 million have been forced from their homes.
