The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and World Economic Forum (WEF) teamed up to tackle climate change and environmental threats worldwide. Both organizations signed an agreement on June 11 in Geneva, creating a partnership focused on climate action, nature protection, and cutting pollution, according to a GGGI press release.
Each group brings different strengths to the table. GGGI has deep policy knowledge in developing countries, while WEF connects global leaders and helps businesses work with governments on major projects.
Their joint work will cover ocean sustainability, plastic waste reduction, clean energy, and forest protection. The partnership also looks at using digital tools and AI for climate solutions, plus finding new ways to get private money into green projects.
“By aligning the Forum’s global networks with GGGI’s project development experience, we aim to develop concrete initiatives on climate action, energy transition, biodiversity conservation, and resilient global supply chains,” said Sang-Hyup Kim, GGGI’s Director-General.
The groups plan to grow their current programs and create new ones that help governments build skills and get policy advice. They’ll also share research and host events together.
This deal connects two major international groups working on climate issues. The agreement helps both organizations better support developing countries that want to scale up green growth programs.
