Unlocking Productivity Gains: The Case for Reform in Professional Services Regulation

📅 15 October 2025
Online

Professional services play a vital role in modern economies by providing important inputs across many industries. Thus, when regulations governing these services are inefficient, the impact propagates throughout the economy.

This EU-OECD online workshop will examine how liberal professions are regulated in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
(OECD) countries and the impact this regulation has on the economy. The event will feature a keynote presentation by Prof. Maria Koumenta, a leading expert on occupational licensing. The workshop will also include a deep dive into the latest results of the OECD’s Product Market Regulation (PMR) indicators on liberal professions, along with a novel OECD analysis on how reducing regulatory constraints on liberal professions can unlock productivity gains.
