The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) signed a series of development financing agreements and commemorative country engagement notes with member countries during the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, on 19 June 2026, according to a press release by the Islamic Development Bank. Each agreement was signed by H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, IsDB Group Chairman. The agreements reflect a broad and strategic development agenda covering transport, energy, education, agriculture, rural livelihoods, and fragile-state recovery. They reaffirm the Bank’s commitment to financing high-impact projects across member countries. The signings underscore a shared ambition to expand opportunities, strengthen resilience, and accelerate sustainable development.
For Côte d’Ivoire, a financing agreement of US$234,799,657 was signed with H.E. Souleymane Diarrassouba, Minister of Planning and Development, for upgrading the Tafiré–Ferkessédougou Highway (58 km). The project is a flagship infrastructure investment designed to transform a critical economic artery into a high-capacity dual carriageway. Mauritania signed a US$59,280,000 agreement for its Rural Electrification Project in isolated areas with H.E. Abdallah Cheikh Sidia, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development. The initiative will connect 22,000 households and 3,000 socio-economic facilities. It represents a breakthrough in expanding energy access across remote regions.
Chad signed a US$20,000,000 financing agreement for the Basic Education Transformation Project, with H.E. Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of Finance, Budget, Economy and Planning, signing on behalf of the Government. The project forms part of a broader, multi-partner education programme aimed at strengthening human capital development. The Gambia signed a US$31,010,000 agreement for its Cattle Production and Productivity Improvement Project with H.E. Seedy K. M. Keita, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs. The initiative aims to boost food security, income growth, and rural resilience. Somalia signed a Commemoration Note launching the Somalia Country Engagement Framework, with an envelope of US$45 million for 2026–2028.
Dr. Rami Ahmad, IsDB Vice President (Operations), signed two major agreements with Hon. Yusuf Abdulla Ali Humood, Undersecretary for Financial Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, covering a US$180.72 million King Faisal Highway Upgrade Project and a US$330.07 million Salman Industrial City Expansion Project. For Palestine, Hon. Dr. Naser Qatami signed a US$22 million agreement for the Solar Power Field Project. Two agreements were signed with Ahmed Shehata, Chief Executive Officer of Islamic Relief USA: a US$25 million and a US$7 million agreement for an emergency response operation in Sudan. A US$10 million Donor Contribution Agreement was signed with Qatar Charity. Dr. Ahmad also signed memoranda of understanding with FOCIC, IOM, IOFS, and Enabel.
