The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group is participating in Luxembourg Pride Week from 2 to 12 July, celebrating the LGBTIQ+ community and reaffirming its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, according to a press release. Around 600 EIB Group employees joined the Pride Run, marking a record level of participation. The initiative highlights the growing importance of these values among staff. It also reflects the Group’s alignment with European Union principles of equality and human rights. The events reinforce the EIB’s position as a champion of inclusion within the EU.
Luxembourg Pride Week brings together companies, associations, friends, families and individuals who support the LGBTIQ+ community. The 5km and 10km Pride Runs and walk provide a safe and open environment where everyone can express themselves freely. The event has become a key annual gathering in Luxembourg. It offers space for both LGBTIQ+ community members and allies to demonstrate solidarity. Participation from institutions such as the EIB Group underscores the wider societal importance of the week.
The record turnout of EIB Group staff at the Pride Run signals rising engagement with diversity, equity and inclusion themes among employees. On 11 July, the EIB Group will also take part in the Equality March, which calls for acceptance and legal equality for the LGBTIQ+ community. The march offers an opportunity for non-LGBTIQ+ people, including organizations, institutions and individuals, to show their support and solidarity. Both events form part of the Group’s broader engagement with Pride Week. Together, they demonstrate the EIB Group’s public commitment to LGBTIQ+ rights.
“Pride is a moment to celebrate diversity, but also to reaffirm our shared responsibility to uphold equality, inclusion and solidarity in our societies,” said EIB Vice-President Robert de Groot. “At the EIB Group, we are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels respected, valued and able to contribute fully. On behalf of the EIB Group, I want to express my heartfelt support for the entire LGBTIQ+ community, at a time when their rights are increasingly challenged.”
His remarks emphasized both celebration and responsibility. They also acknowledged current challenges facing LGBTIQ+ rights.
The EIB Group embodies the European Union principles of equality, human dignity, non-discrimination, and respect for human rights, including LGBTIQ+ rights. The Group believes that fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace strengthens its ability to innovate and enhances its effectiveness. This approach supports the mission to improve lives and promote sustainable growth. The Pride Week activities reinforce these commitments in a visible way. Through participation in the Pride Run and Equality March, the EIB Group reaffirms its stance on inclusion.
