School No. 9 in Bakhmut is part of a wider project launched in February 2018 and funded by the European Union’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace. The project is implemented by the UNDP’s Recovery and Peacebuilding programme.

The conflict in Eastern Ukraine will be on the agenda at the 20th bilateral summit between the European Union and Ukraine, which will take place on 9 July in Brussels. This is the first summit since the entry into force of the Association Agreement and its Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.

The EU will be represented by Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and by Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission. Ukraine will be represented by President Petro Poroshenko. The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini, Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis and Commissioners Cecilia Malmström and Maroš Šefčovič will also participate.

Leaders will discuss next steps in the implementation of the Association Agreement. They will assess the progress on, and the EU’s support for, the Ukrainian reform agenda.

The leaders will also discuss regional and foreign policy issues, such as relations with Russia, energy security and the follow-up to the 2017 Eastern Partnership summit.
