Hunger has now continued to rise for three years running, reaching 821 million people, and representing 11% of the global population in 2017.

The factors driving hunger vary from conflict to climate extremes to economic slowdowns. Addressing rising acute hunger cannot be “business as usual”.

Humanitarian, development and peace actors must work together to address immediate needs while tackling the root causes of hunger. In fact, now is time to PRO-ACT and not just react. Through the Global Network, the EU, FAO, and WFP are joining forces with partners across sectors to win the battle against food crises and build more resilient communities.
