Meet and share your experience with professionals engaged in harnessing the potential of Blockchain for international development at the first Blockchain for Development Forum to unfold in Southeastern Europe. The event is scheduled for November 7th, 2018, and is due to take place at Opera Plaza Hotel in Cluj, Romania.
Exploring the relevance of new technologies to address existing socio-economic gaps and support internationally agreed development targets including the globally-recognized Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is critical. The question for developing countries is not only how this could be workable but also who could be involved in harnessing Blockchain technologies to close development gaps.
In the realm of international development, blockchains are already improving livelihoods, facilitating good governance, and helping establish rights among poor communities. Understanding the technology itself is less important than understanding its enormous potential for public and global good.
The Blockchain for Development Forum: The Future Now will attempt to cut through the hype and evaluate the potential of this technology on everything from remittances to supply chain management, voting practices, smart contracts, land titling, educational credentialing, health record storage, and more.
The one-day event is designed to bring together the technology implementers, innovators, and influencers in Blockchain and DLT, alongside delegates from multilateral development banks and other international organizations, senior decision makers and stakeholders.
Key speakers include: Viktor Peter, Senior Blockchain Governance Expert at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH; Danny Curran, Director of Growth (Europe), AID:Tech; Nena Dokuzov, Head of Project Group of New Economy and Blockchain Technologies, Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Slovenia; Andrei Nagy, Co-Founder & COO, AlphaBlock; Cristiana Dutca, Director of Operations, KYC-Chain; Marina Petrovic, Alternative Finance Lab Expert, UNDP Croatia and Istanbul Regional Hub; Lana Dimitri, Senior Business Development Manager, DevelopmentAid, and others.
“At DevelopmentAid we believe that blockchain technology and artificial intelligence are the future, hence paying attention to these trends and adapting our future development strategies accordingly is crucial. The EC has already invested more than €80 million in projects supporting the use of blockchain in technical and societal areas. And up to €300 million could be further invested through different Union instruments, this being a great resource to be taken over by the technology development players,” explained Lana Dimitri, Senior Business Development Manager at DevelopmentAid.
Among key topics to be discussed at the forum are: the Fourth Industrial Revolution; IoT; Smart Contracts; Decentralized Data; Social Credits; Self-Sovereign Identity; and Aid Transparency.
The Blockchain for Development Forum is organized with the support of ARIES Transilvania, ANIS, Cluj Napoca City Hall and DTMA.
