Since the beginning of 2017, the Branch of Muyinga has been supported by the Finnish Red Cross in the area of integrated health. The program has 2 axes, namely the Model Household approach and the Organizational Development.
Thus, this northern partner subscribes to the notion of “container and content” since the Model Household approach is impossible in the absence of strong Red Cross structures, this is the Local Red Cross Unit.
A delegation of the Finnish Red Cross visited Muyinga from 4 to 7 July 2017 in order to be closer to the realities of the field. This visit allowed the team to evaluate the Qualitative and quantitative data analysis on the basis of 11 identified criteria, in order to determine the initial community health situation.
1590 households will be transformed into model households in the Muyinga, Mwakiro and Buhinyuza communes. Among them, 53 homeless households will benefit from the support trough the construction of houses.
Widow and mother of two children, Mrs. Claudine Irambona, is one of the beneficiaries from Kiringanire hil of the commune of Muyinga, who saw the volunteers of the Kiringanire Local Red Cross Unit mobilized in the brick making to build her new adequate house. “I owe the well-being of my family to the Red Cross,” she confides, tears in her eyes. Indeed, the volunteers of his locality made bricks for the construction of her new house fulfilling the criteria of a model household.
The integrated health program will cover a period of 3 years in the province of Muyinga.
