KOICA(Korea International Cooperation Agency, President Lee Mi-kyung) in collaboration with Vietnam Women’s Union(VWU) together supported vulnerable groups in Vietnam to alleviate their difficulties during this COVID-19 epidemic season with the $10,530 worth of the emergency supplement.

Due to the shrinking economic activities caused by High-Intensity Movement Restriction Act for the past three weeks, urgent support for women, the disabled, and children in vulnerable groups in the blind spot of government support is urgently needed.

Therefore the vulnerable groups would be primarily supported with face masks, antiseptic water, basic supplies, nutritional supplements and etc.

KOICA Vietnam Alumni serves as a platform for individuals and organizations of the two countries to connect and exchange knowledge, experiences on issues of socio-economic development. With the reduction of the face-to-face alumni activities due to the spread of COVID-19, it decided to support vulnerable groups with the saved alumni budget, $10,530.

Cho Han-Deog, Country Director of KOICA Vietnam said “We think highly of the Vietnam government’s efforts to overcome COVID-19 and KOICA is willing to contribute supporting the vulnerable through the alumni association” and he also emphasized, “The value of international solidarity, mutual trust, and cooperation are fundamental to overcome COVID-19 together”

Also, to alleviate the disruption of COVID-19 to the society and economy, KOICA Alumni said that it would continue to contribute to the joint effort to minimize the difficulties of disadvantaged groups in Vietnam.
