Virtual Event

This is a high-level online event with health policymakers from the region focusing on the Prospects for COVID-19 Vaccine Development and Implementation.

This topic would be discussed from three different angles: the science of vaccines, supply and bottlenecks, and affordability/accessibility.

The hour-long session will be hosted by IDB’s President, Mr. Luis Alberto Moreno. The proposed format is a panel interview, to address the following broader topics: when a vaccine will be available, when it could be taken to scale, and how much it would cost, among others.

For low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) the impact of COVID-19 will certainly be severe. In this context, the event will also cover issues such as the challenges and perspectives for production in LAC, as well as issues of equitable and affordable access for all countries.
