Objectives: The goal of this tender is to develop and evaluate a microwave radiometer utilizing Rydberg atom-based quantum sensor technology. This innovative approach intends to improve sensitivity and eliminate the need for conventional amplification methods. The project involves the careful design of the radiometer, selecting appropriate architectures and critical components, and testing to assess sensitivity and stability. The process includes dedicated de-risking steps involving building block selection, sub-system testing, and integrating a radiometer prototype. The objective is to validate the performance against existing technologies and achieve Technology Readiness Level 4. The results will provide comparative data on performance, size, and weight.
