Overview : 

El origen de la iniciativa MAPS (Mitigation Action Plans and Scenarios, por sus siglas en inglés) se remonta al proyecto “Escenarios de Mitigación de Largo Plazo” desarrollado en Sudáfrica entre 2005 y 2008. El proyecto resultó en un conjunto de escenarios de mitigación de emisiones para orientar las decisiones y contribuir a una postura del país frente a las negociaciones internacionales que se llevarían a cabo en Copenhague. Fruto de positivas evaluaciones nacionales e internacionales del proceso y de los resultados del proyecto, el año 2010 surgió la iniciativa MAPS.

MAPS es un programa de trabajo para apoyar a países en desarrollo a elaborar planes que sean compatibles con los desafíos climáticos asociados al cambio global. Se trata de una iniciativa sudafricana liderada por el Centro de Investigación en Energía de la Universidad de Ciudad del Cabo con la colaboración del Centro South South North, y con el financiamiento de la Fundación del Fondo de Inversiones de la Niñez (Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, CIFF). Actualmente se desarrollan proyectos MAPS en Colombia, Perú, Brasil, Argentina y Chile.

Si bien Chile tiene una participación muy menor en las emisiones globales de gases efecto invernadero (GEI) (aproximadamente un 0,2%), las emisiones nacionales han experimentado un crecimiento significativo (232% en el período 1990-2006).

La empresa consultora que se adjudique esta licitación deberá estar disponible para responder preguntas y contribuir con un estudio de Evaluación Estratégica que será llevado a cabo en forma paralela. Las preguntas que deberá responder están relacionadas con los indicadores que la empresa consultora deberá calcular y analizar durante este estudio.

Objetivo General del Estudio

Proyectar las emisiones de GEI para el escenario Línea Base 2012 y Escenarios de Mitigación, considerando el horizonte de evaluación 2012-2050 y detallando los resultados para los años 2020, 2030 y 2050.
