CONSTRUCTION OF GIHIRA II WATER TREATMENT PLANT (CAPACITY-15,000M3/DAY) AND REHABILITATION OF EXISTING GIHIRA WATER TREATMENT PLANT (CAPACITY-8000M3/DAY)

  1.      The Government of RWANDA has applied for a loans from the African Development Bank and Africa Growing Together Fund toward the cost of the Rwanda Sustainable Water and Sanitation Program and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the Engineering Procurement Contract (EPC) for Construction of Gihira II water treatment plant and rehabilitation of existing Gihira water treatment plant. The Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC) Ltd, the implementation agency, intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for:

Ø  Design and construction of river water intake

Ø  Design and construction raw water pipeline and treated water pipelines ranging from DN 500 mm to 90 mm for 15 km

Ø  Design and construction water storage tanks

Ø  Design and construction of one booster pumping station for treated water

Ø  Design and construction new water treatment plant 15,000 m3/d and rehabilitation of the existing one of 8,000m3/d

It is expected that Invitations for Bid (IFB) will be made in November, 2017.

  1. Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures specified in the Bank’s ”Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations” dated October 2015, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the Rules.

4 A complete set of the Prequalification Document in English may be obtained by the interested applicants from the Procurement Office of 3rd Floor WASAC ltd Head Office, at Gishushu/Remera, from 5 September 2017, by presentation of a deposit slip of Twenty Thousand Rwandan Francs (20.000 Frw) not refundable deposited to the account N° 0040-0658579-18 of WASAC Ltd open at Bank of Kigali.

  1. Applications for Prequalification should be submitted in sealed envelopes four (4) copies, including 1 (one) original and 3 (three) copies, delivered to procurement office of WASAC Ltd not later than 20 October 2017, at 10:00 am local time (08:00 GMT) and be clearly marked “Application to Prequalify for Construction of Gihira  II water treatment plant and rehabilitation of existing Gihira water treatment plant, ICB No: 11.07.053/ 1084/W/IRB/ 003/17-18/PROC-DWSD-CEO/JS/jbd.
  2. The opening of the bids will take place on presence of company representatives who choose to attend on the same day at 10:30 am local time or 08:30 am GMT in the conference-room of WASAC Ltd 3th Floor at Gishushu/Remera

About the Funding Agency

The African Development Bank is a regional multilateral development finance institution, established in 1963, with a mandate to further economic development and social progress of African countries, individually and collectively. 80 member countries including all the 54 African countries and 26 non-African countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia own the Bank. 

The Bank's principal functions include:
