Ministry of Finance of Tunisia

Decree No. 75-316 of May 30, 1975 sets out the responsibilities of the Ministry of Finance, whose main mission is the preparation and implementation of state policy in financial, monetary and fiscal matters. In this context, it participates in the design of the objectives of the economic policy and in the definition of the appropriate means of realization. 

The Ministry of Finance also has for mission:

• to draw up draft financial laws and to ensure, in accordance with the legislation and regulations in force in the execution of the State budget, subsidiary budgets, budgets of public administrative establishments, as well as special treasure funds. As such, it is consulted on all matters having a budgetary impact and in particular those relating to public remuneration;
• prepare draft tax and customs texts and ensure the implementation of legislation in this area;
• prepare the draft texts relating to State and local government accounts and take all necessary measures for their application;
• to supervise public accountants in the exercise of the powers conferred on them by the laws and regulations.
