Description
The population in Gaza is faced with completely different problems: for weeks, many families have been living with the barest minimum in UN schools or other shelters. More than 2,000 people have died during the seven weeks. Around 18,000 houses have been destroyed or heavily damaged, making them uninhabitable. It will take an enormous effort to rebuild Gaza. An expert commission of the Palestinian Authority estimates the costs to be EUR 7.8 billion. In the short-term, the German Federal Government is making EUR 24 million available via KfW to reconstruct Gaza.
