Inspired by the Social Science of the Catholic Church , the mission of Caritas organizations is to support the poor and socially marginalized to express themselves and regain the right to a decent and dignified life through complex social assistance programs and charitable and humanitarian actions.
Caritas's vision is based on creating a civilization of love and solidarity between people.
The 10 Caritas organizations active in Romania gathered in 1994 in a national network: the Caritas Confederation of Romania. Created to promote the social projects of its members, Caritas Romania is involved in lobbies and influence of social policies at both national and European level through Caritas Europe, the strategic partner of the EC in social issues. All Caritas organizations in Romania have partnerships with local authorities and provide services to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, people with special needs, large families and low-income families, elderly people. Through complex social assistance programs run by Caritas in Romania, we meet the needs of 70,000 beneficiaries annually.
