Details
Description
The Lawrence Foundation is a private family organization that provides grants to ecological and human services and other organizations. In 1988, Jeff Lawrence co-founded Trillium Digital Systems which was based in Los Angeles, California and created and licensed communications programs to producers of communication equipment all around the world.
After the company was acquired by Intel Corporation in 2000, Jeff Lawrence and his wife, Diane Troth, founded The Lawrence Foundation using some of the money from Intel's acquisition. The Lawrence Foundation now receives about 1500 grant requests every year but can only finance about 5-10% of these.
Since its establishment, the foundation has received over 17,000 grant applications and granted over 700 of those for total funding of more than US$5.5 million at the end of 2020. The Lawrence Foundation has provided program and operating funding, as well as actively funded, arranging and hosting seminars that have brought together academics, non-profits and funders to discuss environmental economics.
