Description
On July 29, 2016, the Government of Niger signed an agreement with the US Government through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for the implementation of the Compact.
The Millennium Challenge Corporation is a support fund for countries that demonstrate equitable governance, encourage economic freedom and invest in human development.
Established in January 2004 by the US Congress, the MCC makes large-scale donations to reduce poverty in some low-income partner countries.
For the management of this financing agreement, the Government of Niger set up on December 23, 2016, an entity named Millennium Challenge Account - Niger (MCA-Niger).
The Millennium Challenge Account - Niger is responsible for the implementation of the Compact Program over five (5) years from the date of its entry into force on January 26, 2018.
The various projects contained in the Compact are funded to the tune of 437.024 million US dollars.
The Compact Niger operates in the regions of Dosso, Maradi, Tahoua and Tillabéri.
