Ministere de la Sante Publique is a government body established in 1974 in Tunisia. It is responsible for the health of the population to enable the harmonious development of its physical and mental faculties, as well as its adaptation to the natural and social environment of the country.
MOH develops, plans, oversees and monitors the implementation of public health policies in the areas of prevention, care, drugs, narcotics, laboratories, and rehabilitation. Its main responsibilities include initiating and stimulating all forms of collective/individual education in terms of health and hygiene, providing technical assistance to all public/private organizations in the sectors of water, food, environment, etc., implementing prophylaxis actions (mass vaccinations, health control, etc.), implementing and ensuring the enforcement of a family planning policy, promoting the organization of a production network for the supply and distribution of medical products and materials, controlling the production and quality of drugs and many other responsibilities. To accomplish all these tasks, MOH develops and participates in the development of legislative acts, ensures the standardization and maintenance of health care resources in both the public and private sectors, monitors institutions in accordance with the applicable regulations, conducts surveys, and encourages scientific research.
