Description

Barbados has a democratically elected government with the island being split into thirty constituencies whose members are elected by their constituents in a General Election.

The party with the most seats in the House of Assembly is elected as the ruling party and then the Prime Minister is chosen by his or her majority parliamentary peers before selecting a cabinet of Government ministers. The Executive Branch of government is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the government.
