The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance of the Republic of Guatemala (MSPAS) is responsible for developing policies and enforcing the legal framework on preventive and curative health, as well as actions related to the protection, promotion, recovery, and rehabilitation of the physical and mental health of the country’s inhabitants. The Ministry is also in charge of the orientation and coordination of technical and financial cooperation in health and ensures compliance with international treaties and conventions related to health emergencies brought about by epidemics and natural disasters.
