The Secretary of State for Education (SEDUC), part of the Executive Administration's Direct Administration, has the following purposes:

I - the formulation, supervision, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the State Education Policy;

II - the execution of Basic Education: elementary and high school and teaching modalities;

III - assistance, guidance and monitoring of the activities of educational establishments;

Art. 2 For the fulfillment of the provisions of the previous article, it is incumbent upon the State Secretariat of Education of Amazonas to formulate, coordinate, control, evaluate and implement the educational policies of the State of Amazonas, ensuring compliance with the legislation. through the execution of related programs, actions and activities:

I - the coordination of the process of definition, implementation and maintenance of public policies for education in the State;

II - the provision of necessary resources, methods and qualified professionals to improve the educational services offered to society;

III - the preparation of educational plans, programs and projects in accordance with governmental guidelines and goals;

IV - advising state schools in the preparation, execution and evaluation of educational programs and implementation of pedagogical innovations in elementary and high school and modalities;

V - the maintenance of a permanent system of quantitative and qualitative information, the student population, the qualification of education professionals and the school network infrastructure;

VI - the elaboration of studies and research, definition and evaluation of indicators of the quality and effectiveness of the educational system;

VII - offering the conditions of operationalization and maintenance of the process of municipalization of education, in partnership with the Municipalities;

VIII - the maintenance of systematic exchange with public bodies, private entities and community organizations, aiming at greater representation of society in the educational process;

IX - the elaboration, control and supervision of projects necessary to fulfill the competencies of this Secretariat;

X - the promotion of educational policy actions and programs, in conjunction with the other spheres of government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations and civil society;

XI - the development of other activities related to their nature, offering support, subsidies and means for the implementation of educational and educational development policies;

XII - the execution of other actions and activities concerning their nature or determined by the Chief Executive.
