Within the scope of its remit, the Ministry of Economy and Finance is in charge of the general orientation of the economic and financial policy of the government and the management of the state property.

In addition, it ensures the financial supervision of companies and public or state-owned establishments and, where appropriate, contributes to their transfer to the private sector, within the legislative and regulatory frameworks of the privatization process.More specifically, the main missions of the Ministry are:

Preparation of the budget law and monitoring of its implementation and effective implementation;
Revenue collection;
The payment of public expenditure;
Control of public revenue and expenditure;
Financial control of public enterprises and institutions and, more generally, any entity receiving financial assistance from the State or its branches;
Control of local government finances;
Regulation and control of the activity of insurance and reinsurance companies;
Regulation and control of the activity of banks and financial institutions;
Regulation and control of the activity of micro finance institutions;
Conduct audits of companies and public institutions, in particular with a view to their possible restructuring and nationalization.

For the year 2018, the priorities assigned to the Ministry of Economy and Finance are as follows:

Pursue the consolidation of public finances;
Continue the reorganization of the Ministry of Economy and Finance
