The specific objectives are as follows:
determine the size of the country's total population, its structure by sex and age, and by certain socio-economic and cultural characteristics, its spatial distribution according to different administrative units and the place of residence;
determine the levels, patterns and trends of fertility, marriage, mortality and migration;
provide indicators for advocacy for certain vulnerable population groups such as disaster victims, people with disabilities, orphans, children, the elderly, women heads of households;
to evaluate the recent and future evolution of the population of Burundi;
determine the characteristics of households, housing and living environment of households;
build a socio-demographic and cartographic database;
update the localities file and the sampling frame;
strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of the Population Department, the BCR andof ISTEEBU
