U.S. embassies are committed to supporting U.S. companies to start exporting or grow their exports to Zimbabwe. In this section, you’ll find a quick description of Zimbabwe as an export market and some suggestions for getting started.
The U.S./Zimbabwe trade relationship is overwhelming in Zimbabwe’s favor. In 2015, Zimbabwe sent US$ 67 million worth of products to the U.S. while U.S. exports to Zimbabwe totaled only US$38 million. We encourage Zimbabwean exporters to take advantage of these opportunities.
Exporters enjoy significant tariff reductions under the General System of Preference (GSP). Approximately half of Zimbabwe’s exports to the U.S. were through the GSP. Unfortunately, Zimbabwe is not eligible for the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which offers liberal access to goods from qualifying Sub-Saharan countries into the U.S. market.
