The Democratic Republic of Congo has tremendous renewable energy potential and access to electricity is increasing, although its global level it still limited to 17%, while access to clean cooking solutions is nationally only 4%.
DRC has ambitious plans to scale up access to energy, further increase its renewable energy generation and to implement Sustainable Energy for All. A Rapid Assessment / Gap Analysis of the energy sector was produced in 2013 and the country convened two Stakeholder Forums on Renewable Energies in 2014 and 2015. It embarked in the process of developing the Action Agenda and Investment Prospectus, following a wide national consultative process and with the technical assistance of the SEforALL Africa Hub. The development process is still undergoing and is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2016.
