Description
The Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) is responsible for, among other things:
the development, implementation and evaluation of State policy on livestock, fisheries and the harmonious development of animal industries.
As part of his duties, he is responsible, in liaison with the other ministerial departments concerned:
The application of any measures for the conservation, development and exploitation of domestic animals and their products;
The safety of food of animal origin;
Training and technical supervision in breeding;
Training of fishermen, protection of maritime and river resources, improvement of production and sanitary and statistical control of marine, fluvial and piscicultural fisheries;
Studies and research for the renewal of fish and fish resources in liaison with the Ministry of Scientific Research.
It is in charge of the Society for the Development and Exploitation of Animal Productions, the Fisheries Development Mission, Maritime Artisanal and the National Veterinary Laboratory.
