The Ministry of Energy of the Argentine Republic was created in December 2015, resulting from the elevation of the rank of the Ministry of Energy that was part of the Ministry of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services of the Nation.Until June of 2018, the Ministry of Mining was also included; then transferred to the Ministry of Production.
On September 5, 2018, President Mauricio Macri degraded the ministry to the rank of secretariat within the Ministry of Finance.5 The changes occurred in a modification of the national cabinet that reduced the number of ministries from 22 to 10.
