Description

EPU is the responsible Office for coordinating the implementation of energy polices and providing necessary advice and assistance on all energy activities and energy – related matters.

The energy office is also responsible for the following:

National energy data repository;
Issues Petroleum Storage License;
Ongoing operation and maintenance to public streetlights;
Design and implement environmental proved standards of energy power systems and
Assist government entities to do energy audit, electrical survey and testing;
 

To achieve our national energy vision “available, accessible, reliable, affordable, clean and sustainable energy options for the enhancement economic growth and improvement of livelihoods in Kiribati”, EPU office works closely with the Kiribati Oil Company (KOIL), Public Utilities Board (PUB) and Kiribati Solar Energy Company (KSEC), state owned companies, in designing, implementing and monitoring energy programmes in the urban and rural areas.
