The main objective of the scheme is to improve rain fed agriculture scenario with the efficient management of rain water, to enhance the farm productivity. Thrust is being given to conserve rain water and utilization of the collected water to irrigate the crop duringcritical stages of the crop growth. The various components under subsidy , for the present year under the scheme are Water Conservation structure(Farm Pond),Polythene /Alternate lining to prevent evaporation and percolation loss, Distribution of Diesel pump-sets for lifting harvested water (3 to 5 Hp), Providing Drip/sprinkler sets to irrigate the crops using harvested rain water, Providing shade net around the farm pond to avoid evaporation losses and accidental deaths. Progress achieved under the scheme from 2014-15 to 2018-19 (up to December-18 end) 2.41 lakh farm ponds and 2460 poly houses are constructed. Totally 2.44 lakh farmers have received the benefits of the scheme. As per the evaluation reports of University of Agricultural sciences Bangalore, Dharwad and shivamogga, farmers are able to irrigate the crops during critical stages which has resulted in realizing additional yield and income up to 50% during the period of deficit rains .
