The Secretary of Tourism (Setur) was created by Law 10,549, of December 28, 2006, whose purpose is to plan, coordinate and execute policies to promote and promote tourism. It is also incumbent upon the Secretary of Tourism:
plan, coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate Tourism policies;
formulate guidelines and promote the definition and implementation of plans, programs, projects and actions related to tourism at the state level;
promote, coordinate, execute and supervise the elaboration of state tourism plans, programs and projects;
to attract technical, human and financial resources, aiming at the development of tourism in Bahia;
promote, in isolation or in conjunction with national or foreign legal entities governed by public or private law, actions aimed at
to increase tourism as a factor of development, generation of wealth, work and income;
conduct and develop studies and research to identify needs and evaluate the effects of programs, projects and activities linked to the tourism sector;
supervise compliance with the legislation regarding the tourist area, when previously authorized;
encourage the inclusion of Bahia's cultural identity and historical values in the promotion of tourism;
carry out other related activities.
