The Pan American Health Organization is an international public health organization with a century of experience, dedicated to improving health conditions in the countries of the Americas. Integration with the United Nations takes place when the entity becomes the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization. PAHO / WHO is also part of the systems of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN). The Organization plays a fundamental role in improving public health policies and services, through the transfer of technology and the dissemination of knowledge accumulated through experiences produced in Member States, an international cooperation effort promoted by technicians and scientists linked to the PAHO / WHO, specialized in epidemiology, health and environment, human resources, communication, services, zoonoses control, medications and health promotion. All this effort is directed towards achieving common goals, such as multilateral health initiatives, drawn up by the governments that are part of PAHO / WHO, always with special attention to the most vulnerable groups: mothers and children, workers, the elderly, the poor, refugees and the homeless.
