Created in 1993, the Fonds d’Intervention pour le Développement–FID is a private association recognized as being of public utility.
A major player in the community and social development sector since its creation, the FID has mainly worked in the establishment of basic social infrastructure.
Attached to the Prime Minister's Office, the FID is mandated to mobilize financing in order to contribute to economic and social development at the local level.
A trusted partner of successive governments, national and international technical and financial partners, as well as communities, the FID has worked without interruption.
Its interventions are multi-sectoral and the association works in synergy with different entities, both governmental and non-governmental.
The values advocated by the FID are intrinsic to good governance: integrity, transparency, social accountability, responsibility, and fairness.
The FID comprises hundreds of stakeholders in dozens of professions, not to mention its many partners and service providers. It stands out for building a close relationship that involves and promotes local expertise.
FID's intervention themes
FID's interventions support investment in human capital, resilience and the empowerment of women.
Thanks to income supplements, poor and vulnerable households can access basic social services: education, nutrition, and health. Early childhood activities offer them the opportunity to stimulate their children so they can reach their full potential.
Promoting innovative agricultural and livestock practices enables households to improve their productivity and thus maintain their food security. Through financial education activities and the promotion of savings and investment, they improve their sources of income to better cope with difficult situations.
Capacity building on self-confidence supports women to be more responsible at home and in the community and encourages them to be more self-reliant.
