In the first decade, AGRA built an asset base in technologies, partnerships and models which can be scaled for a significant impact on the status of inclusive agriculture in Malawi. Our strategy and support in Malawi seeks to bring all of these elements together and contribute to the national strategy, improving the incomes and food security for at least 800,000 smallholder households.
This will support the government’s and other partners’ efforts to strengthen the agriculture sector’s planning, coordination and implementation systems to create an enabling policy environment that attracts increased private sector investments.
In addition, through catalytic interventions at systems level that seek to crowd in private sector in seed and input distribution systems, we will increase demand driven seed and fertilizer supplies as well as enhance market linkages for legumes as an alternative export.
