Türkiye Halk Bankası A.Ş. (Halkbank) is a Turkish bank that was founded in 1933 as a state-owned institution. After expanding for much of the twentieth century, it began to absorb smaller-sized state banks and is now a publicly listed firm although the Turkish government retains majority ownership.
