The Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Commerce, also known as Ministerio de Economia, Industria y Comercio (MEIC), is part of Costa Rica's executive branch that is responsible for creating regulatory economic and social policies to safeguard consumers and promote market competitiveness. The mission of the MEIC is to foster and support economic and social development through policies that facilitate the strengthening of the competitiveness of the industrial, commercial and service sectors, especially micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting productive chains, improving the state capacity to administer trade and ensuring fair competition and regulatory improvement.
