The Ministry of Finance is one of 12 government ministries in Finland. Our vision is to establish a solid foundation for the economic prosperity and wellbeing of coming generations. The core of our strategy can be succinctly stated: the Ministry of Finance seeks to ensure a secure future.
The Ministry of Finance is responsible for developing legislation and administration that generally relates to the local authorities, the system of central government transfers to local government for basic public services, local government finance accounting and analysis tasks, and the central government-local government negotiation procedure. In addition, the Ministry of Finance is responsible for local government tax issues, such as the calculation of corporate income tax shares.
