The Ministry of Finance Japan is a cabinet-level ministry of the Japanese government which, until 2001, was known as the Ōkura-shō. The Ministry of Finance's mission is to preserve a stable yet dynamic economy and a peaceful and prosperous society while also fostering the long-term development of the global economy through efficient and transparent public administration. The principal areas of activity are fiscal and economic policy, finance, banking, accounting and econometrics.
