The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture protects and promotes the health of America's agriculture and natural resources, regulates genetically modified organisms, administers the Animal Welfare Act and manages wildlife damage.
APHIS is also responsible for providing services such as protection from invading non-native plants, animals, insects and illnesses, monitoring and managing existing agricultural pests and diseases and preventing inhumane animal treatment.
