Welcome to the ICAO South American Regional Office, which was established in Lima, Peru, in November 1948. It is accredited to all South American States. This Region encompasses the area between Panama and the Antarctic, including an important part of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
ICAO South American Region covers 27 Flight Information Regions (FIRs). The Regional Office fosters the implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS) by providing assistance to States and providing oversight activities to validate effective implementation of ICAO international standards.
The ICAO South American Regional Office is also the headquarters of the Regional Safety Oversight System known as SRVSOP, created after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (1998) among ICAO and the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC). SRVSOP is the Regional Safety Oversight Organization that develops and maintains current the Latin American Civil Aviation Regulations known as LARs.
